From a varsity student whose corpse was found buried in her boyfriend’s backyard, to a young man who brutally murdered his family with an axe and even a woman who was burnt alive by her husband, brand-new local true-crime docu-series Strangers You Know uncovers eight mysterious murders that has shaken South Africa over the past 20 years. “Some of these cases are infamous and others are obscure, but most of all, they’re emotional,” explains executive producer Chwayitisa Futshane, who is also a producer on M-Net’s (*101) popular current affairs talk show Carte Blanche (1988-now), which airs in the slot just before Strangers You Know on Sunday nights.
