Mangi’s in for a shattering shock when he sets his eyes on his longed-for baby with Dintle.
Mangi Nyathi (Kagiso Modupe) felt a host of mixed emotions when his heavily pregnant wife Dintle (Mapaseka Koetle) finally returned home on Tuesday 14 February. He hadn’t seen her since she scuttled out of town in November 2016, claiming that her family was taking her home because (among other things) Mangi was stingy with her lobola!
“Deep down he loves Dintle and he’s kind of relieved that she’s back. And of course she is back with the package that he cares about, which is the baby,” says Kagiso. “So for him to see that whole package back, it’s a relief but he doesn’t write off the fact that he’s still angry with her for having an affair with his own father [Dintle and Lucas, played by Sello Maake Ka-Ncube, wound up in bed together in August 2016].” But Mangi’s delight is shortlived as the baby’s birth, which would have gone a long way toward healing the damage to their marriage, leaves him empty-handed and humiliated.
