Katydid Creatures
Star Children|October 2017

It’s a pretty name, but the insect is pretty, too. Katydids are medium to large insects that live all over the world where there is plenty of foliage to feed on.

Katydid Creatures

Katydids are related to crickets and grasshoppers. They are also called Bush Crickets or Long-Horned Grasshoppers.

Katydids are green in colour with brown markings, with a thick body and long thin legs. The colour of the insects helps them camouflage with the leaves they are sitting on.

They have three pairs of legs and the hind ones are longer than the rest, to enable the insect to jump long distances. Katydids have long antennae that can reach back to the stomach.
