SINCE ITS HUMBLE beginnings in the early ’90s, Taiwanese company AVerMedia has been pushing the envelope when it comes to innovation in communication and entertainment peripherals. Webcams are one of the company’s specialties, so with its PW315 sitting in the budget end of professional webcams, how does this model perform in a world where videoconferencing is skyrocketing?
The design of the camera follows a more traditional approach than the last webcam we featured, the Razer Kiyo Pro, but there are some benefits to this. It's smaller, more lightweight characteristics mean it puts less strain on your monitor, it’s easy to take with you, and it takes up less room above or below your screen. The PW315 doesn’t have the greatest of build qualities; the plastic is light and slightly cheap, with a faux-metal finish. The metal effect actually helps to make the webcam look more professional, and for the price, we can’t complain too much.
