“Our point of affordability is that in the price of 43 inches get 55 inches”

The television industry is growing massively, and it is expected to expand even further in India with some strong competitors in the market. For more than a decade, big names like Samsung, LG and Sony have reflected dominance in this sector, but other brands like Kodak have swooped in to offer premium products at affordable prices. Super Plastronics Pvt Ltd (SPPL), the brand behind Kodak in India has been in top 5 best-selling television brands since 2016. Playing in to bring affordability with premium features to masses, the company launched its latest offering, the Kodak CA Series Android Televisions in partnership with Google. Avneet Singh Marwah, Director and CEO, Super Plastronics Pvt Ltd, in conversation with Pahi Mehra, spoke about the recent launch of the company, its partnership with Google and how the streaming technology has impacted the television industry.

So let’s start by telling us what the upcoming launches is about?

So we are launching Kodak’s bezel-less Android TV, which will be one of the best premium TV in India, with utmost luxury and very-very affordable. So this, TV will come under Netflix and prime both and both will be licensed with the 9.0 android OS with about 5,000 more applications which can be updated. All applications and games can be up the updated and the OS also can be updated to version 10 and 11.

Please tell us about your partnership with Google?

So, we are the first licensee in India to do make in India Android televisions. We have signed a deal with Google which was first brand in India and 6th in the world, in terms of in-House backward integration, there’s a term called TADA that we signed and with this there is an exclusive tie-up where you can manufacture, update inhouse android TVs, so everything will be backward integrated.

We have developed everything our self, we have not taken anything from any supplier, we have in-house developed everything through our R&D and now we will take care of all the security patches and all the updates. This is the first time any television brand is doing something like this.

And all of this will come with affordable pricing?

Very-very affordable pricing, all of this and the upcoming television will come under very-very affordable pricing. And as I said, this TV will be bezel-less premium TV, with Bluetooth, 5.0 Wi-Fi, 3.0 USB, all these things are coming with Dolby Digital and Dolby vision for the first time. So it is basically a jam-packed television.

The industry is constantly changing and Android TVs are vital part of it now, so how is your latest offering different from your competitors?
