Pune has been a breeding ground for not just homegrown writers who have flourished prolifically, but also for writers wh ho want to find some erudite readers. After all, it is not easy to get readers who not only read every word but also understand d what’s written in between. . Recently, Pune witnessed an unusual event which merged dance and written words. The Gyaan Adab Centre hosted an unusual event, where author Pervin Saket spoke of the journey of her book, Urmila – The Forgotten Wife. Simultaneously, Aparna Gandhi and Karishma Harlalka, through their dance and abhinaya, showcased the journey. The event also had Pervin speak about women in mythology and contemporary narratives. This, of course, was keeping in mind her book.
Pervin herself is an interesting and award-winning author, who has been making a name for herself in the Indian literature circuit. She has been shortlisted for the Random House India Writers Bloc Award 2013. Apart from Urmila, she has written a children’s series, Adventures @ Miscellaneous Shelf Four, and also a collection of poems called A Tinge
