A Sign Of The Times

The safety of our children is paramount, but is the world a more dangerous place these days, or have we become over-protective?

Alice Cooke
A Sign Of The Times

A SEVEN-YEAR old girl was approached by a man in a Winchester restaurant last month, who reportedly offered her money to go with him. Thankfully, her mother was close at hand and when she questioned the man’s actions, he bolted as soon as he realised the child wasn’t alone.

The incident was reported to Hampshire Police but no action was taken, as the man did not touch the child and as such no crime was committed.

The woman then took to Facebook to warn other parents. She said: “I want people to be aware. The next child might not be so lucky.”
