New rules to limit the number of dogs people can walk have caused a huge row in Gosport – and around the world.
IN Gosport there is a new by-law stating you can only walk four dogs at a time. Is this common sense, or micro-politics gone mad?
Gosport Borough Council has voted for the new rules to reduce the number of dogs allowed per walker from six to four, with a £100 fine to be issued to those who do not adhere to them. But plans to limit the number of dogs that walkers can take out in the town triggered a huge row on social media, with people from across the globe offering their opinions.
The restriction comes in response to complaints about dog mess and reports of dogs being out of control. The issue split contributors on social network Facebook, with some dog owners questioning whether it is fair.
Dennis Brown wrote: “Who is to tell anyone that they can only have four dogs?” He added: “This has no legs as it goes too far to interfere with people’s rights to choices.”
