Celebrating 100 years of life, love and family

A Century Worth Of Memories

One of the wonderful things in life is a sense of belonging to a loyal and affectionate family. Ours was a family of ten children (three girls and seven boys), where everyone had their own activities and interests, but also had a real sense of unity.

The story I am penning is from pages of information my brother Jerry gleaned from Mum and Dad in the winter of 1970, when their minds and memories were still active.

How Mum and Dad met is a unique, poignant tale that is still humourously talked about by some in our family, and always brings a smile to our faces.

The year was 1915 and our dad, Jack, was in the small town of Grassy Lake, Alta., located halfway between Medicine Hat and Lethbridge, when he noticed a pigtailed, auburn-haired maiden taking a swing with her purse at some young fellow who was teasing her.
