SAN FRANCISCO BASED EMERGING ARTIST ANOUSHKA MIRCHANDANI HELPS TINA THAKRAR DELVE INTO THE STORY BEHIND HER FIGURATIVE ARTWORKS

One short chat with Anoushka Mirchandani and I know I’m speaking to a true artist. She was a self-confessed doodler and daydreamer as a child; her work is deeply rooted in finely nuanced emotions; she has gradually begun to get comfortable with putting her work on display; she attaches the ‘ambience’ of a space to her creative mental state; and she’s ambitious about pushing her creative boundaries as far as possible.

San Francisco-based Anoushka’s work stems from her experiences as a young woman in India, but the underlying meaning resonates with every woman around the world. The message is clear cherish your body, exercise your right to show skin, and let go of internal conflict and external judgement. Her figurative artworks transcend mediums, whether watercolour, ink, clay or oils, but not meaning, in that they embody the emotions and feelings of women in society today.
