Logic & Feelings

Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar
Logic & Feelings

The body is ‘dhrishya’ - that which is seen. In the same way that you take care of your body, maintain it, adorn it and treat it well; treat nature likewise. The whole nature is your body. Whatsoever you see is your body, it is not different from your body. The vegetable that you see today, will become a part of your body. Food which is in the market today, will be in your home tomorrow and the day after, it will be in your stomach. Then, this food becomes your mind. Don’t differentiate between your body and nature. In the same way you see other things, see your body as a witness.

Drown your mind into your heart, take it into your heart. Try to settle it into your heart. Then this ‘dhrishya’... that what you see... will become yours. We can watch everything in two ways - one, from the point of view of the heart and another, from the mind. When we watch the moon from the heart, we feel that the moon has life and is lively. When we view it from a scientific point, then we observe it as a collection of sand, mud, stones and another planet. Children see everything from their heart. They refer to the Moon as an uncle (Chanda mama), they try to establish a relationship with it. When we see Ganga, we see it as a river, which is, just ‘moving water’. From another point of view, we call it as Ganga Mata - Mother Ganga. When we take it as a mother, we feel with our hearts. So, when we watch anything with our heart, it will come alive for us.

In the Army, soldiers are trained; “See your enemies as objects, only then you can shoot them!” But, when you see them as persons, then you become weak in your heart and you will not be able to shoot them.”
