RATS just need food, water and shelter to survive and nearly every garden, in city, town or countryside, can offer this at some period through the year. So all of us are at risk to some extent. To a hard working gardener, rats are vermin – they can damage a wide range of vegetables and fruits, both while the produce is growing and afterwards when it is in storage. Look for little parallel grooves in your crops, where a rat’s incisor teeth have bitten into the material.
