Essex superstar Olly Murs performs at Newmarket Racecourse this month, and he is promising a show that everyone will enjoy, including himself
WHILE IT MAY now feel like Essex star Olly Murs was born to stardom, it was finishing as the runner-up to Joe McElderry in the sixth series of The X Factor which brought this singing superstar to the world’s attention.
Of course, success on The X Factor has been no guarantee of commercial success in the music industry for countless other names from the show, but Olly’s career has gone from strength to strength, his latest album, 24 Hrs, being his fourth consecutive number 1 album. So how does that feel and what has made him the biggest male name to come from The X Factor music factory?
‘It’s amazing. I’m very proud to have had four consecutive number 1 albums – it’s brilliant. I never expected in my wildest dreams that I would’ve got this far. I’d like to think that I’ve released some great songs and hope people love what I do. This latest album is probably the most heartbreaking, most honest album that I’ve done, but I think with previous albums you know I have a lot of fun. My albums are happy and people enjoy listening to them. With this album in particular, it’s still happy, it’s still got lots of that vibe on it. It’s just luck that people like me and people have bought my albums. I’m very lucky that they do, because it doesn’t always happen like that. I’m very, very grateful.’
