Online dating and hook-ups may be the current rage, but a fair number of women continue to prefer meeting their partner offline, finds Anindita Ghosh
With the buzz surrounding online dating, one would think there are no takers for the traditional way of falling in love. Who has the time to go through long-winded courtship rituals when all you need to do is swipe right and bag an instant date? Truth be told, while men may be gung-ho about this quick-fix approach to dating, women continue to tread a cautious path, with only a fraction using dating apps. A 2018 Woo (a home-grown dating app) survey of 20,000 urban Indians, showed that only 26 per cent of the users were women.
The survey also brought to the fore the fact that a large number of women avoid sharing personal information on dating apps, owing to harassment. This clearly proves that for a lot of women, the traditional, oldfashioned route is still the best way to find a partner.
