Making Whoopi cost Ted $30M in nasty divorce

TED DANSON has been in The Good Place with third wife Mary Steenburgen for the past 23 years, but he’s still haunted by the ugly and costly divorce from his second marriage — triggered by his shocking affair with Whoopi Goldberg.

“Ted is lucky he’s in a great spot with Mary, because he would never want to go through a divorce like that again,” says an insider.

“It damaged his reputation as well as his wallet, and if it happened again, it could destroy him!”

The cheating Cheers star’s $30 million settlement to ex Casey Coates — at the time one of the biggest celebrity payouts ever — left his good guy image in the gutter.

“Ted wanted to come out of it looking as good as possible, but the divorce was like a living nightmare for him,” says an insider.

“He knew how bad it looked that his affair was so public and he didn’t stand a chance at fighting Casey on it. But he didn’t expect to take such a huge financial hit.”
