Put down that smartphone… Bryan Cranston turns a best-selling book into a new Amazon comedy
Bryan Cranston is, of course, famous for his acting roles, most notably his career-defining performance as chemistry teacher turned crystal meth kingpin Walter White in Breaking Bad.
But he is also a producer, director and writer – and this week the comedy series he co-created, The Dangerous Book for Boys, begins streaming on Amazon.
Inspired by the bestselling 2006 handbook of the same name, it follows young Wyatt McKenna (Gabriel Bateman) and his two older brothers as they deal with the untimely death of their beloved father, Patrick (Chris Diamantopoulos). The whimsical inventor left behind a how-to guide to childhood for his sons and when Wyatt reads it he is transported to a fantasy world. There, his father is still alive and teaches Wyatt the life skills he will need as he grows up.
Erinn Hayes plays the boys’ mother, Beth, and Swoosie Kurtz is eccentric grandmother Tiffany in a series which Cranston created with Superbad director Greg Mottola.
