Not content with writing one of the greatest Christmas specials in TV history, The Office co-creator Stephen Merchant is now starring in a new one-off festive farce.
Joining forces with People Just Do Nothing’s Asim Chaudhry, the pair play mismatched neighbours making a last-minute Christmas Eve dash across the country to track down a must-have gift.
Here, Merchant and Chaudhry reveal the seasonal chaos in store…
How do this unlikely pair end up stuck in a car together for hours on end on Christmas Eve?
Merchant My character, Andy, has failed to buy his daughter the gift she wants. Then the most annoying man ever – his neighbour Dev – tracks down the last one in a shop several hours away and reserves it.
Chaudhry Dev loves Andy because he’s cool and funny and he wants to hang around with him. It’s basically like me and Stephen in real life.
Merchant I would say that Asim is marginally more annoying than Dev.
How do things turn out?
