NEW CRIME DRAMA
Grace
Sunday, ITV HD, 8pm
From Life on Mars to Code of a Killer, John Simm has starred in plenty of crime dramas over the course of his career. Now, he’s back on our screens in an intriguing new ITV police thriller where he plays a troubled detective who’s haunted by the disappearance of his wife.
Adapted from Peter James’ bestselling novels, feature-length drama Grace follows Simm’s character, Brighton cop Det Supt Roy Grace, as he struggles to solve a case that could make or break his career.
Having been reprimanded for his unorthodox policing methods, the mercurial detective has been reduced to looking into long-forgotten cold cases with little chance of success – until he’s unexpectedly handed a chance at redemption by his former protégé DS Glenn Branson (Richie Campbell).
When a bridegroom disappears following a raucous stag night in Brighton, Branson is convinced his colleague could be the key to unlocking the mystery and asks him to help with the investigation. But as Grace starts to unravel a sinister chain of events, he grows uncomfortably close to the distressed bride-to-be.
We caught up with Simm, 50, to check out his case notes...
