NEW COMEDY DRAMA
Together Thu, BBC2 HD, 9pm (not Wales)
The pressures of lockdown life on marriage are laid bare in BBC2’s funny and poignant one-off drama, Together, which begins during the first COVID-19 lockdown last year.
His Dark Materials’ James McAvoy and Catastrophe’s Sharon Horgan play a couple, called simply He and She, who have spent years quietly hating each other and have only stayed together for the sake of their 10-year-old son Arthur.
They hurl insults around like confetti and argue about everything from their jobs and politics to whether their son should be called Arthur or Arty for short and regularly break the fourth wall to rage at the camera.
But as the COVID death toll rises and they remain stuck at home together, the couple are forced to re-evaluate their failing marriage, especially when a heartbreaking family tragedy changes everything.
Here, McAvoy 42, and Horgan, 50, tell us more about their timely drama, shot over just 10 days…
