Jeremy Clarkson gears up to host a new series of iconic quiz show Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?
Twenty years ago, the arrival of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? was a TV milestone, drawing record audiences of 19 million and revolutionising the quiz-show format.
Hosted by Chris Tarrant, the ITV show, which offered contestants the chance to win £1million by correctly answering 15 questions, had the nation gripped with its portentous music, dramatic pauses, and phrases ‘Final answer?’ and ‘Phone a friend.’
Now, to mark the 20th anniversary, motormouth presenter Jeremy Clarkson is taking over as quizmaster for seven shows with a slightly revamped version of the quiz.
We turned the tables and put Clarkson, 58, in the hot seat as we asked the questions…
