There’s trouble for Victoria and Albert as the drama returns.
Revolution is in the air as the third series of ITV period drama Victoria begins. Set in 1848, the new run finds monarchies under threat across Europe, and the French king, Louis Philippe, deposed and exiled in England.
While Victoria, who is pregnant with her sixth child, initially feels safe on the British throne, the rise of the Chartists, a political group who want more rights for working people, soon brings jeopardy to the Queen and her consort, Prince Albert.
Vincent Regan joins the cast as Louis Philippe, while John Sessions is jaded Prime Minister John Russell and Laurence Fox is maverick Foreign Secretary Lord Palmerston. Meanwhile, Kate Fleetwood plays Victoria’s half-sister, Princess Feodora, who turns up unexpectedly as she flees from revolution in Europe.
Here, Jenna Coleman and Tom Hughes, who play Victoria and Albert, give us the lowdown…
