As the action heats up in McMafia, will it mean the end of Alex and Rebecca’s romance? We asked Juliet rylance…
There’s certainly been no shortage of tension and drama in BBC1 thriller McMafia. So far, we’ve seen James Norton’s upstanding banker, Alex, thrown into a vortex of corruption and despair in a bid to keep his hedge fund afloat.
Meanwhile, his girlfriend Rebecca (played by Juliet Rylance, the stepdaughter of the award-winning Mark Rylance), has been clueless to the treacherous game he’s playing, even naively holidaying in the South of France with one of his dangerous new associates.
This week, her suspicions are finally roused as she discovers Alex is hiding a secret phone. As the story unfolds, Rebecca will find her loyalties are tested. Should she allow her strong moral code to be eroded to protect the man she loves?
‘Rebecca isn’t very corruptible, but it’s a big thing that women go through in particular – how much do you put your own values on the back burner to support your partner?’ questions Rylance.
