Vicky McClure is trapped in a toxic relationship in a one-off drama
From her 1999 debut in Shane Meadows’ A Room for Romeo Brass to This Is England and Line of Duty, Vicky McClure’s career comprises a long list of must-see films and TV series.
This week, the 36-year-old actress teams up with BAFTAwinning director Dominic Savage for a gritty new project, I Am Nicola, which they wrote together.
McClure stars as unhappy hairdresser Nicola, who is locked in a toxic relationship with controlling partner Adam (Perry Fitzpatrick).
It’s the first part of a trilogy of stand-alone C4 dramas that also includes Samantha Morton in I Am Kirsty, about a single mother battling poverty, and I Am Hannah, starring Gemma Chan as a woman conflicted about starting a family.
