Life inside a radical Christian community in Sussex
Nestled in the rolling hills of East Sussex is a hidden community whose residents believe they have found the key to a happy life. There is no crime, debt or unemployment, and the children play outside, with no access to TV or mobile phones.
This is the Bruderhof, a radical Christian movement that adopts a back-to-basics lifestyle, and they have allowed cameras inside the pretty, private village of Darvell for a one-off documentary.
‘We have a low-stress way of life,’ says member Bernard Hibbs, 38, who was nine when his parents joined. ‘We don’t worry about mortgages, pensions or how to pay the bills. We live communally and share all our possessions.’
