VIRTUALLY HOME

NEW MONDAY-FRIDAY / BBC1 / 3.45PM / EPS 1-5 of 15 / LIFESTYLE

Many of us fear making design disasters and furniture faux pas when we decorate our homes. But what if you could see how the finished room would look before you commit?

This is the idea at the heart of BBC1’s new series Virtually Home, which sees four top interior designers use cutting-edge technology to create beautiful and functional spaces for people nervous about taking the plunge.

In this week’s opener, Glasgow-based designer Karen Livingstone Welstead is tasked with helping two vintageloving friends turn an awkward cellar into a wow-factor room for entertaining.

Here, Karen tells TV Times more...

How does the format work?

Each episode sees one designer help people who are stuck or conflicted on how to furnish and decorate a room.

I come up with a couple of different designs, and then put the contributors into virtual-reality technology so they can be totally immersed and see exactly how the changes I’m proposing will look.
