Patsy Kensit has been appearing on our screens since she was four years old, when she famously featured in a TV ad for Birds Eye frozen peas, but more than 40 years in the business hasn’t made the former Emmerdale and Holby City star blasé about acting.

In fact, the opposite is true. When TV Times meets Patsy, 48, on the set of ITV drama Tina and Bobby, she admits she is nervous about filming her first scenes as Betty, the mother of Tina Moore (Michelle Keegan), wife of football legend Bobby Moore (Lorne MacFadyen).

‘I’ve been doing this since I was four, but when you start a job you get a feeling, not anxiety, but butterflies, and you have to remind yourself to enjoy it, because you’re never going to repeat today,’ says Patsy.

Although Tina and Bobby is about the relationship between England’s golden couple of the 1960s – football’s World-Cup winning captain and his glamorous wife – Betty is an important supporting player in their love story. She and her only child, Tina, were very close and she wanted only the best for her daughter.
