Judi Dench: My Passion For Trees

At the bottom of the garden of her Surrey home, there’s a secret woodland through which Dame Judi Dench loves to wander.

As well as being beautiful and peaceful, it’s a place where she can remember loved ones no longer with us over the years, because she has planted trees there to mark the passing of friends and relatives.

Now, in a one-off BBC1 documentary, Dame Judi invites the cameras into her retreat, and sets out to discover as much as she can about her beloved trees.

The Shakespeare in Love star is also keen to find out more about the Bard’s fascination with trees, which feature prominently in his works.

Here, Oscar-winner Dame Judi, 83, takes us for a stroll through the woods to reveal what’s in store…
