DANCING ON ICE
SUNDAY / ITV / 6PM / EP 3 of 10 / ENTERTAINMENT
Better known as Corrie’s Sally Metcalfe, actor Sally Dynevor has shed her iconic character and strapped on her skates to compete in this year’s Dancing on Ice.
Having overcome her nerves to get her first performance in the bag – a dreamy routine to Billy Joel’s She’s Always a Woman – she’s back in the rink this weekend for dance number two, which she promises is ‘a fast one’.
We caught up with Sally, 58, to talk about Corrie, conquering fears, and her forthcoming appointment with royalty to collect her MBE…
Sally, your first dance is done. How was it for you?
I was really enjoying it until I had that little stumble – that just knocked my confidence and I forgot where I was. And now I can’t believe I’ve got to go again!
It takes me back to Hattie’s first day at primary school [Hattie is
Sally’s 18-year-old daughter with husband Tim – the couple also have son Sam, 24, and an older daughter, Bridgerton star Phoebe, 26].
She came out crying and the teacher said, ‘It’s all right, you can come back again tomorrow!’ I was like, ‘I’ve got to go through all this again!’
You’ve turned down the show in the past. Was that due to a fear of falling over on national telly? Or maybe worrying about injuries?
