GASLIT NEW FROM SUNDAY 24 APRIL, STARZPLAY DRAMA

The Watergate affair remains one of the biggest political scandals in US history, and now an intriguing, lesser-known side to the story is explored in the star-studded thriller Gaslit.

The eight-part drama, airing weekly on STARZPLAY, available as a subscription on Prime Video, reveals the largely forgotten account of brash 1970s socialite Martha Mitchell, who exposed the secrets of the spying operation at the Democratic Party HQ in Washington's Watergate building, which eventually brought down Republican President Richard Nixon in 1974.

Hollywood star Julia Roberts heads the cast as whistle-blower Martha, whose life was left in tatters following her revelations, while fellow Oscar-winner Sean Penn plays her husband John Mitchell, Nixon's onetime Attorney General, who is forced to choose between standing by his wife or the President he serves.

Here, Julia, 54, and Sean, 61, reveal all about the compelling series...

How does Gaslit offer a new take on the Watergate scandal?

JULIA These stories are fascinating because they're the ones we don't know, when we think we know everything. It's a new way to see something we felt had nothing left to reveal.
