As all casts and crews know, the show must go on. And the Dancing on Ice team have definitely risen to the task over the last couple of months, working their skates off to keep the 2021 series gliding along, after five celebrities had to pull out of the ITV contest due to two COVID-19 diagnoses and three serious injuries.
This Sunday, hosts Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield will preside over the grand finale, which is airing a week earlier than originally planned.
The three remaining celebs and their pro partners will all take to the ice again before the top two couples, as voted for by the public, get to perform their version of judges Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean’s iconic 1984 Olympic winning Bolero routine.
Jayne and Chris, along with their fellow Ice Panellists Ashley Banjo and John Barrowman, will be sharing their expert opinions, but ultimately it’s viewers’ votes alone that decide who twirls off with the winners’ trophy.
Here, in an exclusive interview, showbiz-trouper John, who turns 54 on 11 March, tells TV Times about this incredible series…This year’s series has certainly been a roller coaster! How would you sum it up?
