‘When do you say ENOUGH is ENOUGH?'

Taxis queue while passengers scurry past, wheeling suitcases and cradling cups of steaming tea and coffee, as an announcement booms out from the overhead tannoy.

It’s a chilly December morning at Glasgow Central Station and, among the commuter rush, actors Martin Compston (Line of Duty) and Sophie Rundle (Peaky Blinders, Gentleman Jack) are busy filming scenes for BBC1’s new psychological thriller, The Nest.

A little later, the pair, cocooned in Puffa jackets, take a break inside the Grand Central Hotel located next-door to the station.

‘I’m flagging!’ says Martin, taking a long sip of Irn-Bru.

Set in and around Glasgow, the five-part drama is written by BAFTA-winning Nicole Taylor (Three Girls, The C Word) and sees Martin and Sophie play Dan and Emily, a wealthy couple who are longing for a baby of their own.

However, their lives are turned upside down when they enter into a destructive pact with an 18-year-old girl called Kaya (played by newcomer Mirren Mack) who offers to become a surrogate for them.

Here Martin, 35, and Sophie, 31, tell TV Times why we’ll be gripped…

How would you describe Emily and Dan’s relationship when we first meet them?

Sophie: They’re very much in love. When they first got together they weren’t rich, so becoming wealthy is something they’ve gone through together.
