In a raw new interview, he tells of the pain that will never leave him.
Some 20 years after her tragic death in a car accident in Paris, the world is once again preparing to mourn the loss of Princess Diana. And as the anniversary of her passing draws near, no one has been more determined to preserve her memory than her eldest son, Prince William.
Last week, in an incredibly raw and honest interview, the man who will one day be king finally revealed just what it was like to lose his mother so suddenly when he was only 15, and in the public eye.
In a heartbreaking confession, he says the trauma of that horrific day has felt “like a weight” ever since.
“At times I felt like it would break me,” he says. “They do say time is a healer but I don’t think it heals fully. It [just] helps you deal with it better.”
Diana was only 36 when she died in the crash that also claimed the lives of her companion, Dodi Fayed and driver Henri Paul.
