Yay, A Baby On The Way!

Pregnancy announcements – there’s nothing quite like them.

There may be a pandemic going on, your father may be embroiled in a scandal that shows no sign of going away and your cousin and his wife may be dominating headlines in California, but when you pop up to say you’re expecting – well, a special ray of sunshine beams only on you.

This was the case when Princess Eugenie recently announced she and husband Jack Brooksbank are set to become parents in early 2021.

Messages of congratulations poured in, with everyone from royal fans to her grandmother Queen Elizabeth declaring their delight.

The baby will be the queen and the Duke of Edinburgh’s ninth great-grandchild and their first since Harry and Meghan welcomed little Archie in May last year.

The new arrival will also see Eugenie’s parents, Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson, join the grandparents’ club.

“Welcoming a new baby into the York family is going to be a moment of profound joy,” Fergie said.

“Cannot wait to be a grandmother in my 60th year.”

Eugenie (30), who’s 10th in line to the throne, married wine merchant Jack (34) in a lavish ceremony at Windsor Castle in October 2018.

Their tot will be 11th in the line of succession but won’t have a royal title and will either go by Master or Miss Brooksbank.

“As things stand the baby won’t use the HRH style because these are passed down the male line and Jack doesn’t have a title,” explains Hello! royal editor Emily Nash.
