The 64th National Garment Fair—a highly anticipated event in the Apparel Industry— kicked off in grand style. The NGF was held on January 30-31, 2017, at the Bombay Exhibition Centre, NSE Complex, Goregaon (E), Mumbai. Kashmira Mirza and Sayoni Bhaduri report from the venue of India’s Largest Apparel Trade Show.
As the New Year dawned, it brought fresh hope for the Apparel Industry. The Industry was abuzz with talk about CMAI’s 64th National Garment Fair for a long while and finally, the day dawned. The excitement levels were at an all-time high as the 64th NGF was off to a grand start at the Bombay Exhibition Centre, NSE Complex, Goregaon (E), Mumbai, on January 30, 2017, at 10.45 AM.
DAY ONE
Hall No 1 of the Bombay Exhibition Centre was abuzz with activity as the Fair was inaugurated at 10.45 AM by Mr S L Shah, Past President, Clothing Manufacturers Association of India, by lighting the traditional lamp with other members of the CMAI and cutting the ceremonial ribbon. Prior to the inauguration, Mr Rajesh Masand, Vice President, CMAI, spoke a few words and Mr Shah was presented with a bouquet by Mr Rajesh Masand and a shawl by Mr Ashok Shah, Chairman, Fair Sub-Committee. Mr S L Shah spoke about his association with CMAI over the years. He also spoke about the CMAI’s vision over the years and was thankful to the members for giving him this honour of inaugurating the event. Post the inauguration, esteemed members of the CMAI, namely Mr Rajesh Masand, Mr Ashok Shah, Mr Rohit Munjal, Joint Chairman, Fair Sub-Committee and others, accompanied Mr Shah as he visited several stalls and interacted with the exhibitors. Mr Shah visited the stalls of Zola, Touch, Chintamani’s NX, Saramai and Aari. Mr Shah spoke exclusively to Apparel and outlined his vision for the Apparel Industry and was optimistic about the future of the Industry.
