Shraddha Phulgirkar reports on the Buyer-Seller Meet held at Kohinoor Mangal Karyalaya, Opp Swami Narayan Temple, Dadar (E), Mumbai, on November 26-28, 2017, between 10 AM to 6 PM.
From November 26 - November 28, the Regional Office of The Textile Commissioner, Navi Mumbai, in association with Mumbai Textile Merchants’ Mahajan, Mumbai, organised a three-day ‘Buyer - Seller Meet’ in Kohinoor Mangal Karyalaya, Mumbai. The objective was to provide a platform and opportunities to powerloom weavers to display their produce to reach different markets through buyers. The meet also encouraged powerloom weavers to develop themselves in such a way that their wares can compete in the global market. The experienced panel of speakers and the gathered buyers and sellers discussed government schemes and ways to move the wheels of the powerloom industry forward.
MEET THE PARTICIPANTS:
The speakers at the event were the Honourable Textile Commissioner Dr Kavita Gupta, Chairman of CMAI Mr Rahul Mehta, Chairman of PDEXCIL Mr Purshottam Vanga, Secretary of Mumbai Textile Merchants’ Mahajan, Director of R.O.Tx.C, Mr Naresh Kumar, M D of Sudha Mills (I) Pvt. Ltd Mr Vinod Chothani, the President of Mumbai Textile Merchants’ Mahajan Mr Dhiraj Kothari. Over 50 manufacturers from Mumbai, Bhiwandi, Ichalkaranji, Solapur, Malegaon, Burhanpur, Ujjain, Varanasi and from other parts of India were a part of the exhibition and had displayed their wares in their respective stalls - Yashraj Cloth Exports, Lotus Texcom India LLP, Ramkrishna group, Bhoomi Industries, were a few of the participants. All types of fabrics, dress materials, saris, dhotis, lungis, towels, shirtings, suitings, churidars, home furnishings, bed sheets, etc., were exhibited in this fair.
