French luxury fashion house Louis Vuitton is synonymous with the spirit of travel and innovation, its legacy standing as a testament to the brand's exemplary devotion to elevating richness in everyday luxury. While the brand is globally recognised for its ubiquitous monogram, it's the founder's ingenuity and entrepreneurial vision that revolutionised the travel goods industry with artisanal steamer trunks. Today, Louis Vuitton trunks have attained the status of collectables designed for every occasion, whim or fancy.
In celebration of monsieur Louis' bicentennial anniversary, the Maison paid homage through a grand creative endeavour where 200 modern visionaries and friends of the house were brought together to reimagine the emblematic trunk for a travelling exhibition. The melange of talents from diverse disciplines including art, culture, science, sports and music, among others, were each given a metaphorical blank canvas measuring 50 x 50 x 100 cm-approximately the same dimensions as the original trunk conceived by Louis in the 1850s. The result? A travelling exhibit of 200 masterpieces depicting dreams, desires, abstract concepts and artistic expressions.
Since its home ground debut in Paris last year, the '200 Trunks, 200 Visionaries: The Exhibition' recently made its first international stop in Singapore from April 4 to 27, at the Marina Bay Sands Event Plaza, Singapore. The open-to-all global exhibit will travel through Beijing, Tokyo, New York and London this year.
