Celebrating love and passion for luxurious spaces, is the Samandari family’s abode that dons a celebratory spirit throughout the year. The swanky abode is located in Mayfair Gardens, adjacent to the 15th century Makhdum Sabzwari Mosque complex with the tomb of the said Saint located at the center of the colony. It is a haven replete with greenery and parks.

The house is characterized by lots of open space, beauty, much greenery, a lack of clutter, the importance of decoration and subtle lighting. The design is mostly French, combined with international modernity. Nature and floral notes are also part of the ambience. In fact, nature is a leitmotif inside and outside; in the lawns in the form of palm trees and lush greenery surrounding the house in all three of its entrances, and inside as the motif of most of the paintings created by Kazim’s mother in law. The house’s design inspiration was Kazim’s late mother in law. Kazim shared, “I would say that my late mother-in-law, Germaine, who was a very talented artist, inspired much of the design. The look and feel was decided upon by my daughter Caroline, in conjunction with my son Laurent, both of whom have a great eye for detail and aesthetics”.

He added, “My mother in law was an accomplished artist and her grandfather was an interior designer. Christine’s mother therefore inculcated a keen sense of beauty and interior design skills in her and the family. With these talents, Laurent and Caroline initiated the design of the house”.

For Kazem, an ideal home is where one can enjoy on many fronts, like it should be an oasis of peace when needed, but also a venue where one can socialize with family and friends in comfort. Moreover, it is very important that nature should be a part of the concept of home, as it provides a sense of calmness, especially in a bustling city like Delhi. After all, it is a place where one will be spending much time, so it may as well reflect one’s qualities and tastes.
