My First International Film Love Sonia Will Be Released Next Year

Throw some light on your journey from Marathi television artiste to Hindi film actor?

I used to participate in intercollegiate and state level drama competitions. I was honoured with the best actress award for my performance in the drama and was offered a Marathi television serial. In my career graph my work generated more work for me and that’s how I got into films too. My first break in Hindi film was ‘Black and White’ directed by Subhash Ghai. This journey has been a great learning experience and has enhanced as an actor as well as a human being.

Your experience about television industry

When a person works in the television industry becomes popular in a very short span of time. Working with a bunch of co-actors for a year or two, eventually that bunch becomes your family. When I was doing a television serial, I was recognized in every single corner of Maharashtra because this industry has bigger reach than cinema. It was a wonderful experience.

What inspired you to join this profession?

In my college days, I performed my first play. I realized this field demanded complete focus and determination and I continued acting in plays and gradually I started getting serious about turning this hobby into my profession.

What was your first break and how it happened?

My first appearance on television screen was through ‘Style Check on MTV’ show hosted by Malaika Arora Khan.

Modern day romance The hook up culture

A hook up culture is one of casual dating which may or may not lead to a long term commitment. Messaging and phoning is rampant and to hook up a few conversations gets you into physical intimacy and contact. Talk over a cup of tea makes for a date. Earlier couples used to merit company through the family social circle or a group of friends. Now with the internet boom, social media and Facebook, dating sites have taken over. The individual has become a commodity. A branded site or just an advertisement for various products does the trick. It has become a point of ridicule that dating comes on a mobile app, and true love has indeed become a shopper’s delight. A hook up syndrome has led to a cultural change; just swiping a card and you get a pretty girl to date.
