If you could design your own workplace, what would it look like? We asked three successful businesswomen to explain how they spend their nine-to-five
LYNETTE PHILLIPS
CEO, MaxMediaLab agency and MaxConnectors
What is the first thing you do when you wake up?
I have four kids, so I usually lie still, quietly, and hope not to hear them breaking anything downstairs.
What starts your working day?
Every morning I get all my phone calls done on the 40-minute drive into work. Have to say I’m loving CarPlay right now!
Daily routine?
Managing four kids and two companies – with major events every week – means it’s always hectic. I recently had my chakra read at All Saints [Skin] Clinic (one of MaxMediaLab’s new clients), and was told that my main goal should be to connect with myself every day. So I’m frantically trying to build in at least 30 minutes of meditation daily. I don’t know if ‘frantically’ is the best way, but I do what I can.
Describe your workplace in three words…
Positive, inspiring and 95 percent white marble. The other 5 percent is orchids and mirrors.
How did you design your space?
I had design graduate Li-Chi Pan model the space. I loved her work so much that she is now a member of the team at MaxMediaLab. I had help from Steve Cordony, who is one of our MaxConnectors influencers, to dress the interiors. I also enlisted the help of the talented James Salmond and Blainey North to design our bespoke furniture.
The most important thing for me was having an open working space and great lighting. I wanted to make sure that we had heaps of workable meeting spaces for internal catch-ups and client meetings. The day spa and bar spaces aren’t crucial, obviously – but they are fun.
