Living on a farm has disadvantages but this COVID-19 lockdown fiasco has made me realise just how lucky I am. Never again will I moan about lousy broadband connections, non-existent public transport, or bin collections at the end of the lane. Minor gripes like this pale to insignificance alongside the issues people living in towns and cities have had to endure these past months.
I can only guess at the frustration felt by fellow shooters at not being able to get out with the gun. If I am honest, the lockdown has made little difference to day-to-day life here. We’ve lived off the contents of the freezer more than we did before and the only break in routine has been my Friday night trip to the local pub. Of course, I’ve missed the beer and the banter and I wonder if it will ever open again.
