Half-term cooking with Nadiya
My kids are much older now and the things we make together have changed a lot over the years. They are less amused by my ideas these days, but there are a few things that have stood the test of time.
Toast art
Using water-based food colouring we paint beautiful scenes on plain slices of white bread. Then we toast it to set the colour and it's edible art that the kids have made - still works a treat.
DIY picnic
I get the kids to make their own picnic spread and that can mean cake, sandwiches, sweets whatever they like - in exchange for a long walk in the woods, no complaints! The treat is to have their delicious goodies at the end, sat on our favourite fallen tree in the woods.
