Driver's Foot

Akshata, a 32-year-old entrepreneur, had to commute every day from Delhi to Gurgaon to reach her office. With daily driving of over five-six hours, she started facing problems in her right foot – pain in the big toe, arch, heel and ball of the foot. Rest and medical treatment had little effect. Eventually, Akshata stopped driving but the pain did not vanish.

The Onset Of Driver’s Foot

On complete investigation, Akshata was diagnosed with a condition known as Driver’s Foot. A common foot pain condition, Driver’s Foot is often caused by long driving. Waiting in traffic and continuous driving for two-three hours at a stretch not only generates heel pain but also numbness in the leg with the pain propagating to the lower back. If left untreated for a long time, this pain can develop into a condition called plantar fasciitis along with pain in the heel and the ball of the foot.
