WHY ARE MY ROUND JOINS MESSY?

From granny squares to mandalas, working in the round is a great way to crochet all sorts of projects. But do you ever look at your motifs and sigh at how messy the round joins look? I know I do!

Well, I'm here to show you a couple of easy ways to make your joins so neat they're almost invisible: invisible slip stitch and invisible join. Most of us use a standard slip stitch to close a round of stitches and there's nothing wrong with that, but invisible slip stitches and invisible joins tend to create a neater, more polished look.

An invisible slip stitch just involves an easy little adjustment to your technique, while an invisible join just requires a tapestry needle to create a clever finish for the final round. I'll explain everything you need to know, so let's hook!

HOW DO I WORK AN INVISIBLE JOIN?

Here's how to work this simple technique...

This method works best on the final round of a motif or when you're changing colours after every round. The result is neat, consistent and almost invisible. To try it out, you just need a tapestry needle.
