Sydney practice Blainey North showcases its architecture, interiors and furniture in a glamorous warehouse office.
WHAT INSPIRES YOUR INTERIORS STYLE?
Every project is like the start of a new love affair, where you enjoy immersing yourself in the intricacies and the possibilities. Something amazing happens during that period and the concept is generated. Inspiration comes from experiences, ideas you’re ruminating about, places you’ve been and, most importantly, a rigorous process of dissecting the brief and creating a unique story for every project. Our projects are really a three-dimensional representation of the client and their dream.
WHAT INITIALLY APPEALED TO YOU ABOUT YOUR OFFICE SPACE?
One sunny day about 10 years ago, Russell Crowe appeared in my studio and asked me to work on a derelict warehouse he had just bought in East Sydney. After years of working on the project, we became the first tenants and have been here ever since. The building had to be gutted as it had squatters living in it (complete with marijuana plants growing in the rafters). We restored it to its former industrial beauty while adding the practical requirements of an office. We have our studio and furniture showroom here.
WHAT WERE YOUR REQUIREMENTS FOR THE OFFICE?
