The ideal master bedroom suite usually takes the form of a bedroom, dressing area, and en suite. How generous you make each area will depend on the space you have available, but the optimum size for a master bedroom is around 25m² with a dressing area at around 1.8m x 1.8m and an en suite between 2.8m² and 4m².
You may choose to divide your master suite into zones so areas are demarcated or you might wish to create an open-plan room with a freestanding bath as a focal point. Either way, the key to a successful master suite is to strike a balance between style and function.
Whether you are designing from scratch in a new build, are hoping to convert your loft into the ultimate suite, or are renovating existing rooms to create a master bedroom, the result should be a real retreat away from everyday life. You'll want to be able to open the door to the space and instantly relax so designing a master bedroom suite that exudes calm is often the way to go.
