Take advantage of the best Scotland has to offer and find yourself a home that celebrates our lush landscape
From the rugged, brooding peaks of the Highlands to the endless, rolling greenery of the Borders, Scotland has plenty to offer homebuyers in search of spectacular views. A lucky thing too, as demand for properties looking out to dramatic coastlines, breathtaking mountains and golden farmland is understandably high, as Rebecca March of CKD Galbraith explains: “Quality of life is the main motivation for those who want a house with a view. Looking out to a beautiful vista offers relaxation and tranquillity – and, of course, it’s a very big draw for families keen to bring up children in a green and peaceful environment.”
Indeed, a fantastic outlook can often persuade buyers to spend more to secure it. “Views of water are a particular draw,” agrees Malcolm Leslie of Strutt & Parker. “Our Waterside Survey revealed half of Scots would pay a premium of between 10% and 25% for a coastal home with stunning views.”

You might think the process is purely creative, but designing knitted textiles requires a deep understanding of geometry and pattern calculations. It is intricate and often mathematical. I have learned that knitting demands a constant balance between artistry and engineering. Creating a new textile involves not only selecting colours and yarns but also considering the tensile strength, elasticity and drape of the material. That way, I ensure the final product is both aesthetically pleasing and functional. To me, this blend of creativity and technical precision is a fascinating aspect of knitted textile design.
