The most joyful early flowers, daffodils thrive in containers, creating bright spots of colour.

DAFFODILS GROWN IN containers are used to create a colourful display on a patio or porch, or to act as a focal point in the early spring garden.

They have the advantage over border plantings in that once the display is over, the containers can be moved as the leaves die down.

A south-facing patio, sheltered from frost is an ideal place for containers filled with daffodils. Placed next to the house, the display can be seen easily and enjoyed. This proximity allows closer inspection of the flowers, revealing gorgeous detailing on blooms that vary in colour and form.

Getting the height right

When planning a container, the eventual height of each type of daffodil is checked. This ensures that taller varieties do not overshadow smaller ones. Choosing varieties that flower at a similar time should ensure a colourful display that looks good for weeks on end.
