We’re talking about trying suspension yoga – the newest kid on the block – which, in next to no time at all, has become a popular and unique form of exercise.
Darden Lotz, suspension yoga instructor at the new Virgin Active Collection club near the V&A Waterfront, is now a real advocate of suspension yoga, but just eight years ago, yoga was the furthest thing from her mind.
‘I have been an athletic person all my life. I competed in gymnastics when I was young and I am big on running, but as my training increased, the time I spent stretching decreased and eventually fell away,’ says Darden. ‘One day at gym I decided to stretch and realised I couldn’t even touch my knees – let alone my toes. It was then that I decided to start yoga and, after one class, I was completely hooked.’
