Its idyllic location on the banks of a lagoon and stylish yet relaxed decor make this KZN house the perfect place in which to unwind.

The London-based owners of this KZN holiday home weren’t looking to buy a house but when they came across this gem in the seaside town of Zinkwazi, it was love at first sight. “As soon as we walked in, we could feel the sense of tranquillity,” they recall. “Our youngest daughter said it was a magical house with lots of fairy dust. We leaped at the opportunity to buy it for holidays and so that our daughters could get to know their African heritage.”

The location – on the edge of the lagoon with a view of the beach and ocean beyond – was a major part of the attraction. Add to this the open-plan layout and the wonderful sense of space and they were convinced. “Space is not something we have a lot of, living in London,” they say.
