KITCHEN
Culinary Talk
“The kitchens of tomorrow will be neat and tidy, with touchscreen refrigeration and smart dishwashers,” says Clifton Leung of Clifton Leung Design Workshop. The Hong Kong-based designer sees streamlined silhouettes and smart technology driving the future of kitchen design. “Expect more ovens with steam cookers that can be controlled via an app on your smartphone. This will allow you to prepare your meal while you’re on your way home, so your dinner will be ready as soon as you step into your kitchen,” he adds.
Such options include the smart ovens from Bertazzoni’s Modern series. Equipped with user-intuitive features that include self-cleaning convection and Total Steam technology that uses steam to cook fast and nutritious meals, the oven can manage precise cooking sequences, functions, temperatures and timing so home cooks can produce consistently good dishes.
For sleek refrigeration solutions, look to Gaggenau’s Vario 400 series of builtin appliances. Equipped with handleless doors, proximity sensors and glare-free LED lights, Gaggenau’s head of design Sven Baacke describes this new range as “the very essence of refinement in the luxury kitchen appliance market”. “With this new range, every wish for an extraordinary interior space can be fulfilled,” says Baacke. “Staged beautifully and with perfect illumination, you are no longer simply storing wine or refrigerating; you are making a statement.”
